Venilton Santos was born in Barbalha, Ceará in 1974. He grew up learning accordion from his grandfather, who played forró, and that instrument became central to his music. In 1996, he met producer Roque César and released his self-titled debut album.
His second album, "O Rei do Forró," came out in 1998 and included the song "Paiê." That track became widely known in forró circles. Another song, "Você Vai Ver," also appears among his most recognized work.
Santos has recorded more than twenty albums over time, including "É Paiê" in 2005 and "Venilton 25 Anos" in 2021. He has worked with musicians like Gilberto Gil and Alcione. His regular band has included accordionist Luciano de Sousa, bassist Zé de Almeida, and drummer Cícero de Lima.
