Venore formed in São Paulo in 1997, with Fernanda Takai on vocals, Toni Platão on guitar, Fábio Seabra on bass, and Eduardo Constant on drums. Their self-titled debut album came out in 1999, but it was their 2002 record 'Próxima Parada' that really connected with people. The song 'Que Papo É Esse, Willis?' from that album became a kind of anthem, though its direct lyrics also drew some criticism from conservative corners at the time.
Beyond that hit, their catalog includes songs like 'Nosso Mundo' and 'Abrigo'. They released another album called 'Dança' in 2004. The band's work, led by Takai's voice, has a straightforward melodic quality that resonated without needing much studio polish.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
