Ventania formed in 1991 with Fabio Santini on vocals and guitar, Rodrigo Tavares on bass, and Thiago Mantovani on drums. They spent years playing local bars before their debut album 'Loucura e Razão' came out in 1997. The single 'Só Para Loucos' from that album connected with listeners and became their breakthrough track.
Their music often dealt with themes of mental health and alienation, which sometimes drew criticism from conservative groups. The band kept making albums through the 2000s, including 'Pode Vir Quem Quiser' in 2000 and 'Ponto de Vista' in 2004. Other songs like 'Cogumelos Azuis' and 'Marasmo' show their range across their five studio albums.
Santini's vocals and lyrics remained central to their sound throughout their recording years. They released their final studio album 'Em Busca da Essência' in 2011, maintaining the same core lineup they started with two decades earlier.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
