There is a house in New Orleans

They call the rising Sun

And it's been the ruin of many a poor girl

My father was a tailor

He sewed my new blue jeans

My mother was a gamblin' woman

And the only thing a gambler needs

It's a suitcase and trunk

And the only time she's satisfied

Is when she's all drunk
