Vergelmer

Vergelmer formed in 2007 around founding members Adrian von Wild and Michael Roth, who shared an interest in historical warfare. Their 2009 album 'At War For His Majesty' gave the band its breakout track of the same name, which became a staple for fans. They followed it with albums like 'Sacrament of Fire' in 2012 and 'The Axe and the Oath' in 2015, each focusing on different historical periods from the Teutonic Order to Viking eras.

The lineup includes von Wild on vocals, Roth on guitars, Patrick Brodowski on bass, and Christoph von Otterstedt on drums. Their songs often draw from battle themes, with titles like 'Blackened Rebirth,' 'Blessed By Satan,' and 'Heaven In Ruins Lay' reflecting a consistent tone. Their 2018 double album 'Of Kings and Valour' dealt with the Hundred Years' War.

Some critics have questioned whether the music glorifies war, while supporters point to its historical themes. The band has maintained its approach through these discussions, keeping a focus on melodic metal anchored in those subjects.
