Verlene

Verlene was a blues-rock band formed around lead vocalist and guitarist Verlene Mills, with Jake Evans on bass and Johnny Pierce on drums. They released their first album, 'Blues of It All,' in 1975, followed by 'The Way It Is' in 1977, 'Heartstrings' in 1979, and 'Shadows of the Past' in 1982.

Their song 'Blues of It All' became their most recognized track, capturing the raw, emotive quality that defined their sound. Other songs like 'Call' and 'Enough is Enough' showed their straightforward approach to blues-rock, with Mills' vocals driving the material.

Some audiences found their performances and lyrics too explicit or rebellious, which led to mixed reactions at shows. They kept making music through the late 70s and early 80s regardless, sticking to their style without much compromise.

By 1982, they had put out four albums and built a loyal following who appreciated their authenticity. Their recordings from that period remain the main evidence of what they did.
