Vertikaali formed in 2004, with Jukka Lehtinen on vocals and guitar, Mikko Kuoppala on guitar, Ville Riippa on bass, and Mika Tarkkanen on drums. Their debut album 'Murheelliset laulut' came out in 2006, featuring the single 'Jos sut saisin.'
They took a break in 2008 but returned with 'Taivaanrannan maalari' in 2010. Later albums include 'Tähti' in 2014, 'Kuu ja tähdet' in 2017, and 'Pois' in 2021. Other songs like 'Kuuntelethan mua' and 'Poika ja tyttö' are among their work.
Their 2017 album included collaborations with Finnish artists Sanni and JVG. The band's name means 'vertical' in Finnish.
