Vertigo was an electronic music group that formed in Paris in the early 1970s. The band was led by Jean-Michel Jarre, with Patrick Juvet on vocals and Dominique Perrier on synthesizers. Their early years involved some financial difficulties, but they kept working.
In 1976, Vertigo released their second album, also called 'Oxygene.' The title track became their most recognizable piece, built around sweeping synthesizer melodies.
After 'Oxygene,' Juvet and Perrier left the band due to creative disagreements. Jarre continued as the primary member, releasing more albums through the 1980s and 1990s. Some of these later works, like 'Twilight Zone,' maintained the atmospheric synth style they were known for.
