Vertz formed in New Delhi in 2014 with Pranav Pahwa on vocals, Aditya Nair on guitars, Akshay Sachdeva on bass, and Srijan Mahajan on drums. They started playing together with a mix of folk, pop, and rock sounds, drawing from both Indian classical and Western influences.
In 2018, their song 'Casa' connected with listeners in a way their earlier work hadn't. The track's themes of home and belonging seemed to find its moment, becoming their most recognized piece. They followed it with other songs like 'Estrada' and 'Flores' that continued in a similar vein.
There was some noise in 2020 about similarities between 'Casa' and another song, which the band addressed by standing by their work. They've kept releasing music since then, including tracks like 'I Have A Dream' and 'Lion Heart'.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
