Archive material and source history
VHBC formed in Rio de Janeiro in the late 1990s, taking their name from the Brazilian outlaw Virgulino Henrique Batista Castilho. The group included Fernando Badauí on vocals and guitar, João Rebouças on bass, and Vasco Faé on drums. They released their first album in 2000, which featured the song "Mais Um Dia."
That track became their most recognizable work, though some listeners found the band's overall tone melancholic. VHBC put out several more albums over the following decade, including "Mais do Mesmo" in 2003 and "Deixa a Vida Te Levar" in 2006.
