Via do Som formed in the 1990s in Salvador, Bahia, with an initial lineup of Pedro Pondé on vocals, Robson Nonato on guitar, Léo Rios on bass, and Emanuel Melo on drums. Their debut album in 1999 included the song 'Essa Declaração,' which became popular in Brazil.
After Pedro Pondé left the group in 2004, Dudu Nobre joined as lead vocalist. They released albums like 'Um Novo Lugar' in 2002 and 'Tudo que Você Quiser' in 2005.
