Via Dolorosa

Via Dolorosa formed in 2002 around Samuele Mariotti on vocals and guitar and Alessandro Gioacchini on bass. Their name comes from the Latin phrase for 'Way of Sorrows,' which fits the darker themes in their music. They put out their first album, 'As Death Works,' in 2005, which included the title track that became a notable piece in their catalog.

Their sound pulls from metal, industrial, and ambient styles, creating something that doesn't fit neatly into mainstream categories. Songs like 'Entierrame' and 'With No Fear' show how they build atmosphere with a sense of unease. The lineup has changed around Mariotti and Gioacchini over time, with other musicians coming and going.

They followed up with albums like 'The Shadow of Death' in 2009 and 'Midnight in the House of the Rising Sun' in 2013, continuing to work with moody, introspective material.
