Vibraphones formed in London in 1965 with Simon Nicol on guitar and vocals, Dave Pegg on bass and vocals, and Clive Bunker on drums. They started out playing acoustic folk music with intricate vocal arrangements, performing at London folk clubs in their early years.
Their 1967 debut album didn't find much commercial success, but they kept working. In 1969, Paul McCartney heard them play and invited them to record backing vocals for his "Abbey Road" album. That collaboration led to wider recognition for the group.
Their 1970 album "Maybe I'm Amazed" featured the title track that became their most well-known song. They also recorded "Submarino Amarelo" among other tracks. The band released several albums including "What We Did on Our Holidays" in 1968 and "Unhalfbricking" in 1969.
