Victor Limeira formed his band in 1999, taking his name from the coastal town of Vila Velha in Espírito Santo. Their 2000 single "Amor de Praia" became a summer staple across Brazil, helping push the group into the mainstream. They followed with albums like "Pega na Mão" in 2001 and "Na Zona" in 2003, mixing MPB, pop rock, and samba into a sound that worked for both dance floors and quieter moments.
Their setlists balanced upbeat tracks with more reflective material. Songs like "Amor Platônico" and "Astros" showed their range, while "confusão" and "Metamorfoses" kept things moving. The band's core lineup included Victor on vocals, Anderson Rios on guitar, Alex Pinheiro on bass, Fabrício Loureiro on drums, and Bruno Nunes on keyboards.
In 2006, the group dealt with a legal dispute over the rights to "Amor de Praia," which they eventually won. Their live shows sometimes drew attention for their stage costumes and personas. They recorded a live album in Goiânia in 2005, capturing the energy of their performances.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
