Victorino came out of Brazil in the early 2000s with a sound that mixed rap and funk with local rhythms. Their track "Talho" broke through and became a hit around that time. The group's lineup included MC Victor on vocals, DJ Pinguim on beats, and MC Pedrinho adding another vocal layer.
They put out their first album in 2004, which had "Talho" on it. Later records like 2008's 'Um Grito no Silêncio' and 2016's 'Resistência' dealt with social issues and sometimes shifted toward samba. Their lyrics about life in the favelas drew some criticism, but they kept at it.
