Viejas Locas formed in Buenos Aires in the early 1990s with Cristian "Pity" Álvarez on vocals, Abel "Pinta" Hernández on guitar, Christian "Mono" Espósito on bass, and Facundo "Faca" Arguelles on drums. Their self-titled debut album in 1995 caught on with its raw energy and straightforward lyrics, followed by records like "Hermanos de Sangre" in 1997 and "Especial" in 1999.
Songs like "Me Gustas Mucho" and "Lo Artesanal" became anthems for a certain kind of Argentine youth. The band's sound was unpolished rock and roll, and Álvarez's unpredictable presence as a frontman became part of their story.
Viejas Locas broke up in 2004. Afterward, Álvarez pursued solo work, while Hernández, Espósito, and Arguelles started a new band called Intoxicados.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
