Dearth of life but no scarcity of scars

The walking dead are living life behind bars

Cellular imprisonment, an ocean of black

Confinement solitary like a whip on the back

A citizen of cement and of iron and sin

When anything that can be is used as a weapon

Condemnation by a jury, but not one of them peers

Counting breaths and hours

The days, the months, and the years
