Vila Tchê formed in Porto Alegre, Brazil, in the late 1990s. The band included vocalist Rodrigo Tavares, bassist André Almeida, drummer Marcelo Silva, and Luizinho Moreira on cavaco. Their debut album 'Tá Quente' came out in 2004, with the single 'Vila Tchê' becoming a hit.
Their songs like 'Correndo Te Buscar' and 'Fica Combinado' worked with samba rhythms and pagode energy. They released several albums including 'Ao Vivo no Morro da Urca' in 2005 and 'Ainda É Samba' the following year.
At one point the band faced legal issues over song copyrights. They kept recording through that period, putting out 'Pra Lá de Bagdá' in 2008.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
