Villa Cariño

Villa Cariño formed in 2006 in Santiago, Chile, when a group of friends started playing together. The name translates to 'affectionate house,' which suggested the kind of welcoming atmosphere they wanted their music to have. They worked independently at first, playing local venues and building an audience before releasing their self-titled debut album in 2009.

That first album got them some attention, and songs like 'No Vuelvas Más' became part of their set. The band kept recording, putting out another album called 'La Fuerza' in 2013. They developed a following in Chile and became a regular presence at festivals there.

Their music often dealt with straightforward emotional territory, heartbreak, relationships, everyday struggles. 'Prisionera' is another one of their better-known tracks. They worked within a familiar Latin American rock and pop framework, with arrangements that leaned on guitar, rhythm section, and clear, direct vocals.
