Archive material and source history
Vinhas was a Portuguese rock band from Aveiro that formed in the late 1990s. Their sound had some grunge and alternative rock elements, with Rui Moreira (who sometimes went by Rui Vinhas) on vocals and guitar. The group included Pedro Rodrigues on guitar, João Pedro on bass, and Ricardo Praça on drums.
In 2001 they released the song "Coringa," which became their most recognizable track. It appeared on their second album, also called "Coringa." Other songs like "A Mala, A Mídia, A Sala," "Canto um Blues," and "Meu Lar, Santa Catarina" show up in their catalog.
They put out four studio albums between 2000 and 2007: "Vinhas," "Coringa," "O Terceiro," and "Um." The band developed a following through live shows, and Moreira's lyrics sometimes drew attention. They eventually stopped working together, but "Coringa" remains a familiar song in Portuguese rock.
