Vinicius Cantuaria grew up in Belém, Brazil, where his father played classical guitar. He started on guitar himself before finding his voice as a singer and composer.
His 1991 debut album 'Só Você' introduced a sound that mixed Brazilian rhythms with jazz touches. The title track became one of his most recognizable songs, along with others like 'Cheio De Amor' and 'Coisa Linda'.
He has worked with musicians including Arto Lindsay, Ryuichi Sakamoto, and Caetano Veloso.
Later recordings incorporated electronic and ambient textures while keeping his Brazilian foundation.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
