VININ formed in São Paulo in 2008, with Bruno Caliman on vocals and guitar, Dinei Zammataro on guitar, Gustavo Anitelli on drums, Thiago Proença on bass, and Pedro Henrique on keyboards. They put out their first album, Sem Medo de Errar, in 2011, followed by Sobrevivendo no Inferno in 2014, a live album from Rio de Janeiro in 2021, and an EP in 2018.
Their 2011 song "Sem Medo de Errar" became a breakout hit, and other tracks like "Já É Hora De Acordar," "Não Quero Ficar Só," and "Destino" show their mix of samba, funk, and pop. Early on, they had trouble getting gigs and faced some industry skepticism.
At one point, a song called "Não Quero Mais" drew attention for its lyrics about Brazil's COVID-19 response, which sparked some debate online. Their live shows helped build their audience over time.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
