Vinny came up in Rio de Janeiro in the early 1990s, led by vocalist Vinny Rodrigues. Their sound pulled from samba, funk, and R&B, and they got their start with the live album 'Vinny ao Vivo' in 1995.
Songs like 'Heloísa, Mexe a Cadeira' and 'Universo Paralelo' became hits, built on energetic beats and lyrics about love and relationships. They followed up with albums including 'Quero Mais' in 1996 and 'Ensina-me a Viver' in 2000.
The band included members like Clayson Andrade on drums, Wanderson Andrade on bass, and Rangel Peres on saxophone. They worked with other Brazilian artists such as Zeca Pagodinho and Elza Soares.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
