Violeiro

Violeiro is a Brazilian music group whose name comes from the Portuguese word for a viol player, referencing the traditional stringed instrument at the center of their sound. Their music draws from the Northeast region's cultural traditions, with guitarist and vocalist Mestre Zé Oliveira and viola player João Batista forming the core of the group. They work in a style called Estilo Verdureiro, which takes its name from one of their songs.

Their debut album was called "Violeiro: O Som do Nordeste," and they later released records titled "Forró de Bolso" and "Segue o Som." The singer and percussionist Mestre Chico César has collaborated with them, bringing his own vocal style to their music. While some have questioned their approach to traditional forms, they've maintained a focus on the Estilo Verdureiro sound that defines their work.
