Virtud Musical formed in Chihuahua, Mexico in the late 1990s around brothers Omar and Sergio Robles. They play regional Mexican music, with Omar handling lead vocals and accordion while Sergio sings and plays bajo sexto. The band's lineup also includes Juan Carlos Ayala on drums, Javier Salazar on trumpet, and Jorge Osuna on tuba.
Their debut album was called "Sentimiento Incontenible." One of their better-known songs is "Corrido de Temoris," which tells a story about a young woman named Esmeralda in the town of Temoris, Chihuahua. The band has worked with other Mexican artists including El Chapo de Sinaloa, Los Tigres del Norte, and Banda MS.
At various points, Virtud Musical faced accusations of plagiarizing other artists' work and received criticism from conservative groups about some of their lyrics. They kept performing through those controversies. The band still plays shows today, maintaining that traditional Mexican sound with accordion, bajo sexto, and brass instruments.
