Vitacit formed in Rio de Janeiro in 1985 with vocalist Fábio Barroso, guitarist Ricardo Freire, bassist Marcelo Oliveira, and drummer Alexandre Almeida. Their self-titled debut album came out in 1988, and its lead single 'Sybila' became a hit.
They released several albums through the 1990s, including 'Fragmentos' in 1991, 'Múmias' in 1995, and 'Retratos' in 1999. The band went on hiatus toward the end of that decade.
Vitacit reunited in 2004 for the album 'Ressurreição.' They've kept recording since then, putting out 'Encanto' in 2018.
