Vital is a Brazilian heavy metal band that formed in Belo Horizonte in the early 2000s. The original lineup included guitarists Rafael Bittencourt and Ivan Busic, bassist Rodrigo Oliveira, and drummer Fábio Lione. They started playing local shows while dealing with the usual early-band struggles like finding rehearsal space and managing costs.
Their first album, 'Show Me Your Scars,' came out in 2003, followed by 'The Uncrowned' in 2006 and 'Apostasy' in 2010. Songs like 'Combustão' and 'Êxtase' show their mix of aggressive playing and melodic hooks. They've opened for bigger metal acts on tour, including Iron Maiden and Megadeth.
Some of their lyrics touch on religion and social issues, which has sparked occasional debate. But they've kept making music on their own terms, with a live show that's known for its energy.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
