Vitalic is the project of French electronic musician Pascal Arbez-Nicolas, who started using the name in 1996. The word comes from the French for 'vitality,' which fits the music's energy. His debut album 'OK Cowboy' came out in 2001, mixing electro, techno, and punk elements.

Early tracks like 'Poison Lips' from that period became dancefloor staples with their pulsing basslines and hypnotic synths. Other songs such as 'My Friend Dario' and 'Use It Or Lose It' followed a similar vein of catchy, driving electronic music.

After leaving his initial record label, which caused some legal complications, Vitalic kept releasing music on albums like 'Flashmob' and 'Voyager.' The sound maintained that energetic electronic core while experimenting with different textures across four studio albums and various EPs.
