Vitamin 5 was a German pop-punk band that formed in 2001 around frontman Jan-Niklas Bergendorf, guitarist Johannes Zimmermann, bassist Benedikt Zahn, and drummer Sebastian Hägele. Their debut single 'Der Teig Geht Nicht Auf' caught on quickly with its funny lyrics about a baking disaster, giving them an early hit.
Bergendorf's stage presence and the band's lyrics sometimes drew criticism from more conservative listeners. When they recorded their second album in English, some of their German fans weren't happy with the shift.
They put out four studio albums between 2002 and 2008, starting with 'Es Geht Schön Laut.' Other songs like 'Ganz Allein' and 'Heul Doch' show their mix of pop hooks and punk energy. The band worked with German rapper Kool Savas and American singer-songwriter John Walter at different points.
