Víctor y Los Vicios formed in Monterrey, Mexico in 1996. Their debut album came out in 1998, and its lead single 'Mi Nuevo Chevrolet' became an immediate hit. The song captured something about working-class frustrations and aspirations that connected with listeners.
The band's raw lyrics and intense performances drew criticism from conservative groups. In 2001, a concert in Tijuana ended in a riot that led to their temporary ban from the city. Despite this, they kept releasing albums like 'El Crucifijo de Madera' and 'Alambres de Púas' in 2004.
Víctor García fronted the group with guitarist Adrián Navarro and bassist Omar Robles. Their music incorporated elements of metal and industrial sounds as they continued working through the 2000s.
