Vivian Girls formed in Brooklyn in 2007 with Cassie Ramone, Katy Goodman, and Ali Koehler. Their self-titled debut came out in 2009, pulling from 1960s girl groups and lo-fi indie rock. Songs like 'All The Time' and 'Death' had that reverb-heavy, jangly guitar sound that got them noticed.
Koehler left in 2010, which shifted things for Ramone and Goodman. They put out 'Share the Joy' in 2011 and another self-titled album in 2014, moving toward a cleaner, more experimental approach while keeping some of the dreaminess. In 2020, the original trio got back together for 'Memory,' which leaned back into lo-fi textures with some synth and electronic touches mixed in.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
