Vixe Mainha formed in 2015 as a trio from Salvador, Brazil, with Laila Garin, Luciana Simões, and Cuca Teixeira. They put out their debut album 'Café com Pão' in 2017, which included the title track that became a hit. The group's songs like 'Vixe Mainha' and 'Teto de Flores' blend samba and bossa nova with a straightforward, conversational style.
Their music often touches on everyday Brazilian life with a light touch, as heard in tracks such as 'Vou de navio, de avião ou vou de trem' and 'A Gente Se Combina (Vixe Mainha vai)'. They've released several albums since, including 'Piquenique no Jardim' in 2019 and 'Bossa n' Roll' in 2021.
The trio's live performances developed a following through their shared vocal harmonies and acoustic arrangements. While their lyrics sometimes address social themes, their sound stays rooted in the rhythms of northeastern Brazil without overstating its reach.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
