Voa Dois formed in Porto Alegre in 1984, led by vocalist and guitarist Zé Alexandre. Their self-titled debut album came out the following year and included the song "Para Papa," which became something of an anthem for them. They put out a couple more records before the end of the decade, like 1988's "Linhas Cruzadas."
Some of their lyrics took on political or social topics, which occasionally stirred things up. A song called "Canalha" was one that drew criticism for its stance. Zé Alexandre, who started the band, left in 2000. After that, Marcelo Delacroix took over as the vocalist and guitarist.
They kept going, touring and putting out albums. Their 2016 release was called "Dia Seguinte." Other songs in their catalog include "Americana Quer Beber" and "Amor Pirei."
