No altar da Igreja, um belo dia,
chega o sacristão com a vassoura,
pá e pano pra limpar o chão.
E lá chegando encontrou o palhaço a brincar,
equilibrando uma bola no seu calcanhar.
E entre risos o palhaço escorregou no chão
e terminando a cambalhota viu o sacristão.
"Mas que vergonha, o que que é isso?"
disse o sacristão.
"Onde se viu fazer bagunça?"
o que ele disse então.
Mas o palhaço sorriu e disse a cantar:
"Eu sou o palhaço e brincando é que eu sei rezar.
Como você o que tenho pra oferecer,
igual a você o melhor para oferecer para Deus".
Essa palavra então, por fim, calou o sacristão.
E ele lembrou que o melhor se dá de coração.
E o palhaço alegremente assim se despediu
em uma pirueta louca como ele partiu.
Laiá, laiá, laiá, laiá...
Mas o que nem sacristão e nem palhaço viu,
é que a imagem do menino Jesus sorriu.
