Vocífera formed in Bogotá, Colombia in the early 2000s with vocalist Andrea Mejía, guitarists Mauricio Quintero and Fernando Londoño, bassist Mauricio Cuervo, and drummer Juan Carlos Domínguez. They started playing heavy metal at a time when few bands in that scene had women fronting them.
Their debut album 'All Pain' came out in 2006, followed by records like 'Into the Void' in 2009 and 'The Devil's Kiss' in 2018. Songs like 'Hypocrisy' and 'Corruption' show their tendency toward lyrics about social issues and personal struggle.
Mejía's vocals became the most recognizable element of their sound.
