Vociferax

Vociferax formed in London in the early 2000s, with founding members Damien Blackwood on vocals and guitar, Jacob Hawthorne on lead guitar, and Ethan Carver on bass. They started playing heavy metal that leaned into melodic death metal and doom atmospheres, as heard on their debut album 'Echoes of Despair.'

Their songs like 'Clouds and Iron Dust' and 'Nociva' carried a raw, intense quality that drew a loyal following, even as some critics questioned their explicit lyrics about violence and despair. The band kept touring and recording through six studio albums, sticking to their sound without much mainstream support.
