Voice Male formed in Atlanta in 1957 as a quartet. They were an integrated band at a time when that was unusual, and some radio stations wouldn't play their records. Their sound mixed R&B, rockabilly, and doo-wop.
In 1962 they released 'Mr. Bass Man,' which became their biggest hit. The song reached the top 10 on the R&B charts and crossed over to pop radio. They kept recording through the 1960s, putting out songs like '9 To 5' and 'Breakfast At Tiffany's' alongside their gospel track 'How Firm a Foundation.'
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
