Voice of the Beehive was a British band formed in the 1980s around the duo of Tracey Bryn and Melissa Bel. Their debut album 'Let It Bee' came out in 1988, featuring the single 'Monsters and Angels' which became their most recognizable track. The album's cover art, showing two young girls in a bath, drew some criticism at the time.
Their sound combined ethereal vocals with atmospheric keyboard arrangements, landing somewhere between new wave and pop. Songs like 'Adonis Blue' and 'Angel Come Down' showed their preference for melodic, introspective material over straightforward dance tracks.
They worked with producer Tony Swain early on, who helped shape their first recordings. While 'Let It Bee' found an audience, the band's output was relatively brief, with Bryn and Bel remaining the consistent core throughout their active years.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
