Voltage formed in Brazil in 2002, with Leonardo Araújo on vocals, Rafael Simões on guitar, Guilherme Rezende on bass, and Rodrigo Rocha on drums. Their first album, 'Outros Caminhos,' came out in 2005 and gave them a foothold in the Brazilian rock scene. The title track from that record became something of an anthem for them.
In 2010, the song 'Supernova' from their album of the same name drew criticism from some listeners for its lyrics about suicide and existential themes. The band defended the work as reflecting real experiences. A few years later, bassist Guilherme Rezende was diagnosed with leukemia. The band supported him through treatment, and his experience influenced their 2013 album 'Amores e Guerras,' which dealt with resilience.
They've released other albums like 'O Mundo Real' in 2007 and a collection called 'Antologia' in 2016. Their music has stayed in that rock vein, with songs like 'tempo' also appearing among their more recognized tracks.
