Volumia!

Volumia! formed in the late 1990s as a Dutch band playing a mix of pop, rock, and folk. Their lineup included Jan Dulles on lead vocals and guitar, Robin Borneman on drums, Johan van der Veen on bass, and Jan de Witte on keyboards. They released their first album 'Zonder Filter' in 2001.

Their song '21 Levens' became something of a national anthem in the Netherlands, connecting with listeners through its straightforward exploration of life's ordinary moments. Other tracks like 'Blijf Bij Mij' and 'De Liefde Wint' followed a similar pattern of melodic, introspective writing that felt grounded rather than grandiose.

In 2004, de Witte left the band, but they kept recording and touring. Their discography includes albums like 'De Tijd Staat Even Stil' (2004), 'Ruimte' (2005), and 'Alles Gaat Door' (2017). In 2013, a performance of '21 Levens' at a murdered teenager's funeral drew some criticism, which the band addressed by saying they believed the song could offer comfort during difficult times.
