Von Graf is an Argentine duo from Buenos Aires who started making music in the early 2000s. They combine electronic production with the sound of the bandoneon, an instrument central to tango. The members are Santiago Fernández Larguía, who handles the electronic side, and Ezequiel Kronenberg, who plays bandoneon.
Their track 'A Boliviana' became their most recognized piece, built around a driving electronic rhythm with Kronenberg's bandoneon melodies layered on top. Other songs like 'Avenida' and 'Nostalgia' follow a similar approach, where synthetic beats meet the instrument's traditional, emotive phrasing.
Their debut album was called 'Tango Electrónico,' which set the template for their sound. They kept working in this style across subsequent releases.
Von Graf's music doesn't really fit neatly into either electronic dance or classic tango categories. It's just what they do: Larguía builds the tracks, Kronenberg plays over them, and the result is something like 'Chega Mais Perto' or 'Riscos', electronic frameworks with a very specific, acoustic voice at the center.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
