Von Thronstahl

Von Thronstahl formed in Berlin, with founding member Asmodeus on vocals. Their early sound drew from black metal and darkwave, creating the kind of heavy atmosphere you hear on tracks like 'Brechen Muss Der Schwarze Bann' and 'Das Neue Reich.'

Their 1995 debut 'Mondfinsternis' established that dark, brooding style. Two years later, 'Brechen Muss Der Schwarze Bann' became something of a breakthrough for them, with the title track remaining a live staple. By 2001's 'Nachtwald,' they were working with more introspective material.

Over time, the lineup shifted around Asmodeus, who stayed constant through those changes. Their lyrics often dealt with themes like death and the occult, which sometimes drew criticism alongside the praise.
