Von Wegen Lisbeth formed in Berlin in 2016 around vocalist Matze Rossi, with Julian Pollina on guitar and production, Daniel Freund on bass, and Julius Blum on drums. They put out an EP called UFO the following year. Their first full album Grande arrived in 2019, followed by EZ in 2022.
Their songs like Meine Kneipe and Wenn du tanzt mix indie rock with some punk and pop touches. The lyrics tend to look at everyday things, friendships, nights out, the small dramas of being young. The video for Meine Kneipe stirred up some talk online a few years back for how it showed drinking.
They play with a lot of energy, and that directness seems to be what connects with people. It's straightforward guitar music that doesn't overthink itself, which might be why it caught on.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
