Vooodu formed in the early 2000s with Sera Timms on vocals, Chris Cain on drums, Josh Freese on bass, and Jef Whitehead on guitar. Their debut album 'The Awakening' included the song 'The Crow,' and they later released tracks like 'The Matriarch' and 'Burn the Witch.'

Their music often dealt with themes like mental health and addiction, which sometimes drew criticism but also built them a dedicated audience. The song 'Pay The Price' became one of their notable tracks, reflecting their focus on resilience and consequences.

Timms wrote introspective lyrics while Cain provided heavy drumming, with Whitehead's guitar and Freese's bass creating a layered sound. They blended rock and electronic elements without fitting neatly into either category.

By the mid-2000s, Vooodu had developed a reputation for being direct in both their music and subject matter, avoiding the more polished approaches common in their scene.
