Laurent Voulzy was born in Saint-Cloud, France in 1948. He started working with Alain Souchon in 1972, and they put out an album called 'Les Jours Tristes' together.
Voulzy went solo in 1977 with an album named after the song 'Rockollection.' That track became a major hit in France, a nostalgic piece about rock and roll history that people still know. He's written other songs like 'Amélie Colbert' and 'Belle-Ile-en-Mer Marie-Galante' that have stayed in his setlists.
In 1984, there was some noise about his song 'Les Nuits Sans Kim Wilde' sounding similar to a Kim Wilde track. He kept making music through that period, sticking to his own approach.
