VR formed in 2004 with brothers Arthur and Rodrigo Maia, guitarist Felipe Melo, and drummer Luciano Andrade. They started playing shows around Brazil's rock scene, though some early critics dismissed their sound as too derivative. Their first album, 'Entre o Céu e o Inferno,' came out in 2006.

Songs like 'Além da Razão' and 'És tudo para mim' connected with listeners through straightforward lyrics about personal struggles. The band kept recording through lineup changes, with later albums like 'O Mundo Invisível' showing a shift toward more layered arrangements.

In 2012, their video for 'Além da Razão' drew criticism from some conservative groups for its imagery. VR maintained it was just an honest reflection of the song's themes. They've continued working since, with tracks like 'Pão da Vida' and 'O Que Te Faz Feliz?' appearing in their catalog.
