Waack formed in Rio de Janeiro in 2000. The Brazilian band includes Pedro Luis on vocals and songwriting, Marcela Vale as vocalist and songwriter, Diogo Guedes on bass, and Thiago Silva on drums.
Their song "Menina do Cabelo Curto" drew criticism from conservative groups in 2004 over its lyrics about a woman cutting her hair short. The band didn't apologize or change the song, saying it was about individual expression.
They've had other songs like "Amarylis" and "Deixa Disso." In 2008, they canceled a tour because of the financial crisis and later dealt with members leaving, but kept making music.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
