Wacka Wacka formed in São Paulo in 1986 with Edgard Scandurra on vocals, Augusto Licks on guitar, Fernando Fresca on bass, and Chico Neves on drums. They came up during a period when the city's punk scene was active, though the band's early years weren't easy.
They kept playing anyway, putting out records like 'Guerreira das Estrelas' that got noticed for their rough energy and direct lyrics.
Songs like 'Maria Palheta' and 'Skacapulco' show the mix of punk drive and melodic hooks that became their thing. They toured Brazil and played shows abroad, staying active through the late '80s and into the '90s without softening their sound much.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
