Waheeda is an Indonesian musical ensemble that formed in the early 2000s, fronted by vocalist Wida Mohede. Their debut album 'Panggilan Jiwa' came out in 2003, anchored by the hit single 'Panggilan.' The band's sound mixed traditional Indonesian elements with contemporary pop and jazz, which drew both admiration and some skepticism from listeners at the time.
They kept releasing albums through the 2000s and into the 2010s, including 'Imaji' in 2006, 'Tak Terganti' in 2008, and 'Dua' in 2013. The lineup shifted around Wida Mohede, with musicians like guitarist Irwan Simanjuntak, bassist Arman Harjo, and drummer Arief Setiadi passing through. They worked with other Indonesian artists too, including Yovie Widianto and Glenn Fredly.
Waheeda's music found an audience that responded to their blend of familiar and newer sounds. They became one of those groups that Indonesian listeners point to when talking about how pop music there changed in the 2000s.
