Wahlstedt formed in Skellefteå, Sweden in the late 1990s. Their debut album 'Echoes from a Distant Shore' came out in 1999. The band was led by vocalist and songwriter Karin Wahlstedt, with Andreas Lovestedt on guitar, Marcus Wesslén on bass, and Jonatan Samuelsson on drums.
Their second album 'About Ya' in 2001 included the title track, which became one of their better-known songs. They followed it with 'The Shadow of Your Smile' in 2004 and 'Ashes to Dust' in 2007. Later work includes 'Whispers in the Wind' from 2012.
Some of their other tracks include 'Boyfriend', 'Don't Want To Know' featuring Vigiland, and 'Majesty' with Lucas Estrada. The band's lineup changed over time with several members departing.
